Here are some things you should Avoid while adding mods to your game
</aside>
Downloading & Updating Mods
<aside>
When updating mods you should NOT be replacing files - always delete the old mod before putting in the new one. Why? Because the game can still read it as the old version and act like it wasn’t updated.
Deleting the old files are also necessary because sometimes creators will change the name of the mod. Having both versions will create lag & all sorts of conflicts.
If you are on PC and you see a folder called MACOX__ You should definitely delete that or your game won’t start, they’re files that generate when creating rar files on a Mac - so harmless to Mac users but will yell at you on PC.

Downloading CC/Mod Folders, Sim Dumps, Buildings
<aside>
Why should you not be downloading these?
- The top reason would be: Duplicates, you will end up with thousands of duplicates. Most people who upload folders rarely organize them.
- It’s against the CC/Mod Creators’ Terms of Use. Majority of creators out there prohibit the re-uploading of their content in general. Some creators will allow it for free Sim Dumps/Builds but a lot of people break those rules and include it in paywalled downloads as well - which leads to creators retiring from creating. 😢
- Broken & outdated sliders and presets - not only can you end up with duplicate sliders and presets which can have conflicts, they could also be broken on top of that. And then you’re gonna end up with sims missing half their face or body.
- Broken & outdated Mods in general - Especially with Buildings/Lots, often times people do not actually go through the CC & Mods they include in their builds and you will inevitably end up with a broken version of something from 2022.
- Disgusting mods from banned creators - Again, this happens because people who are putting their Sims or Builds up for downloads are not checking their files when uploading so you can end up with content from creators who are banned in most Sims discord servers.
Do you want to accidentally end up with suspicious mods in your game? I don’t think so.
- At the bottom we have Malware - chances of getting malware are low but never 0.
- The only safe cc/mod folders are the ones from the creator themselves, of their own work.
Stop paying people for re-uploading others’ CC that they actually worked hard to make!
The Sims is and has always been about being creative! Go make some sims and builds yourself!
And often times these sim dumps and builds come with merged CC….which brings us to:
