Be wary of users on discord sending DMs about downloading a mod called “Forbidden Passions” Do not download any suspicious links! Always check Scarlet’s List or Luth’s Updates if you aren’t sure!

Why is file organization important? Well, for starters even if nothing else in your life is going right - at least your sims 4 mods folder is. ‣
Having a good system of folders will help you cut down significantly in doing things like 50/50 and finding and removing broken cc or mods.
‣ Don’t feel like reading all this? Go check out TwistedMexi’s video on ‣ youtube!

Mods should always be no further than 1 subfolder deep.
Script files - ones that end in .ts4script should be kept with their package files so that you don’t lose them while updating.
You should limit yourself to less than 250 mods or it can cause all kinds of issues.

Custom Content can go up to 5 subfolders deep.
How you want to organize this is all up to preference - Some people do it by creator, others do it alphabetically.
No matter how you do it, it’s much better than just having a single folder and trying to find that one broken piece of CC.

UI = User Interface It’s the layout of the sims information bars, where their thumbnails are, buttons and all that fun stuff.
These mods break almost every patch so it’s good practice to keep them in a separate folder so it’s super easy to update them.

Defaults and Overrides can go up to 5 subfolder deep
But it’s best practice to keep them in a folder separated from your mods and your custom content so you don’t accidentally batch fix them, or for easy removal.
Because who doesn’t hate it when you can’t find your CAS background to get rid of?

Important to note for UI Mods: These mods are any mods that affect the UI, not just the ones that make the main layout look cute - this means mods like custom traits, more columns, font replacements, wrench icons, Better Build Buy, T.O.O.L., School & Career mods, club mods & more.

1 subfolder deep means that you are only making 1 new folder inside your Mods Folder so it looks like this: C:\Users\This PC\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\New Folder

Up to 5 folders deep can look like this but you don’t have to make that many folders: C:\Users\This PC\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\New Folder\New Folder 2\New Folder 3\New Folder 4\New Folder 5
